Event: Cumbria BogLIFE end of project conference

This conference marks the end of the five year, EU LIFE-funded lowland raised peatbog restoration project, which has taken place over 3 sites in Cumbria. These are Bolton Fell Moss, Wedholme Flow, and Roudsea Wood and Mosses.

Event: 2018 Conference Key Messages

Conference Key Messages Peatlands are important to us all – our largest natural carbon store, homes for rare and threatened wildlife, cultural and ecological archives, water supply and management, places to enjoy and relax, and places local people identify with and an important part of the ‘brand’ for food and drink. Terms such as public benefits, ecosystem services, Natural capital all define these peatland features in ways that communicate with particular audiences.

Event: That’s LIFE – Restoring the Humberhead Peatlands End of Project Conference

Doncaster, South Yorkshire, 15th - 16th May In 2014, funding was secured from the European Union's LIFE+ programme to help the restoration of the Humberhead Peatlands, which comprises Thorne, Hatfield, Goole, and Crowle Moors and is designated as a National Nature Reserve (NNR).

Event: International Conference on Climate Smart Agriculture on Organic Soils

Uppsala, Sweden; 23rd-24th November 2017 Peatland store a major share of the world's soil organic carbon. Many European peatlands have been drained and cultivated in the past centuries. This fosters land surface subsidence and peat mineralisation. This conference will discuss options for maintaining production on organic soils while reducing greenhouse gases emissions and buffering climate change. Event: BogFest (a joint Moors for the Future Partnership & IUCN UK Peatland Programme Conference)

Many thanks to all that joined us for BogFest 2017 in the heart of Edale. It was great to have so many enthusiastic people ready to learn and share their own experiences.
