The IUCN UK Peatland Programme are proud to announce the winners of our competition for the most inspiring Communication of a Peatland Issue.
First Prize goes to Northumberland National Park and the Haltwhistle Film Project for 'Our Beautiful Bogs – Northumbria’s Peatland Secrets'. The film takes viewers on a personal journey through which imaginatively connects the viewer with the story of local peat bogs.

Second place went to the LIFE Active Blanket Bogs in Wales education programme. Judges felt this project was well targeted and tangible, using personal experience to achieve in a myriad of outcomes from artwork to poetry.

The Pulumon Project, a graphically strong entry with a contemporary feel came third. This project promotes ecological restoration over a large area of the Cambrian Mountains, and was entered by the Montgomeryshire Wildlife Trust.

Winners were announced by Peter Cairns of 2020Vision at the IUCN UK Conference ‘Investing in Peatlands – the Climate Challenge’ on 28-29 Sep 2010 in Durham. The makers of ‘Our Beautiful Bogs – Northumbria’s Peatland Secrets’ won the opportunity to spend a day with the 2020 Vision Photo Team, while all top three entries took home a case of our specially brewed conference beer, ‘Old Sphagnum’, from the local Allendale Brewery.
