Travel and accommodation

Our 2026 conference will be held at Swansea University’s Bay Campus, a beautiful location with its own beach, seafront promenade and on-site accommodation, and the perfect base from which to explore the peatlands of south Wales. 

Conference tickets must be purchased separately via TicketTailor.

Getting there

There are a range of public transport services to Swansea, and we encourage our delegates to use lower carbon options wherever possible. 

For those attending field visits, transport will be provided from the Swansea University Bay Campus, where you will be able to collect a packed lunch before leaving. 

 

By Rail

The nearest railway station is Swansea railway station.

Journey times to Swansea railway station: 1 hr from Cardiff, 3 hrs from London Paddington, 3 hrs from Birmingham New Street.

Special Offer: Conference rates are available with Great Western Railway (GWR), which can be purchased through the GWR website. You will be eligible for a 50% conference discount, if you begin your journey at any station on the GWR network.*

By Air

Cardiff Airport is the closest airport to the conference venue.

From Cardiff Airport to Swansea: There is a rail service to Swansea railway station (see rail information above).

Parking on campus

Day delegates: There is restricted parking in the Bay Campus visitor car park which must be booked in advance. Information about how to book will be provided closer to the conference date.

Residential Delegates: Parking is available on site for delegates staying in campus accommodation. Information on how to book parking will be provided with your accommodation information pack, to be issued after accommodation bookings close on 1 May. 

Please note that visitor parking is Pay & Display, with an automatic number plate recognition system in use.

Accommodation and breakfast are not provided as part of our conference ticket options, but Swansea University Bay Campus have limited on-site accommodation available to book until 1 May.

Swansea also offers a wide choice of accommodation for different budgets, including hotels, B&Bs, hostels and self-catering accommodation. More information can be found on the Swansea accommodation pages of the Visit Wales website.

On-campus accommodation

The University is offering four different accommodation options for those wishing to stay on campus. Each option includes bed & breakfast in a single standard ensuite room at £90 per night, in flats with 7-10 rooms and access to a shared kettle and fridge. Breakfast is served at the Hideaway on campus. 

Available on-campus accommodation options are:

  • 2 nights: 9th to 11th June
  • 3 nights: 8th to 11th June
  • 3 nights: 9th to 12th June
  • 4 nights: 8th to 12th June

Please indicate if you require accessible accommodation when making your booking. All the University’s buildings meet strict accessibility criteria including wheelchair access, the provision of hearing loops in all lecture rooms and consideration given for blind visitors. There are a few adapted rooms in all the residences.

Please note that on-campus accommodation is limited and will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. The booking deadline is 1 May, after which your accommodation information pack will be sent out.
