Accreditation
Accreditation is another key aspect of our work. It serves as a demonstration of our adherence to international standards and best practices. It provides assurance to our stakeholders that our operations are credible and reliable. Furthermore, it highlights our commitment to transparency, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Here are two types of accrediation:
1. International accrediation of the IUCN UK Peatland Programme and the Peatland Code for ICROA Endorsement and ICVCM CCP approval. The Peatland Code team are working towards ICROA endorsement and ICVCM Core Carbon Principles.
2. ISO 14065: 2020 and ISO 14064-3: 2019 from UKAS (The United Kingdom Accreditation Service) for independent validation and verification bodies to validate and verify Peatland Code Projects.
The ISO Standards explained
ISO/IEC 17029:2019 is a standard that sets out the general requirements for bodies that perform verification and validation. This can be a standalone accreditation, however usually it is used alongside sector specific programmes and schemes that contain requirements for validation and verification processes and procedures.
ISO/14065:2020 General principles and requirements for bodies validating and verifying environmental information. Provides a comprehensive framework for ensuring the accuracy and reliability of various types of environmental information, beyond just greenhouse gases.
ISO 14064-3:2019 Greenhouse gases – Part 3 helps organisations ensure their GHG statements are credible and trustworthy.
