Restoring Scotland's Peatlands

The films show how Peatland ACTION project officers work closely with landowners and managers to support their peatland restoration projects. © Swift Films/NatureScotNatureScot’s Peatland ACTION team has recently released a suite of films and case studies highlighting the value of peatland restoration, and how Peatland ACTION can help.

Peatland ACTION – Restoring Scotland’s Peatlands, is a 14min film which includes footage and interviews with landowners, agents, contractors and Peatland ACTION project officers from three restoration projects across Scotland. There are also three 3min case study films, and two 1min films focussing on the landowners’ and contractors’ perspectives. They can all be viewed on the Peatland ACTION YouTube channel.

The three new case studies – for Moss of Cree in Dumfries & Galloway, Lochrosque Estate in Highlands, and Wemyss & March in the Borders – are also available in written versions on the NatureScot Peatland ACTION webpage, along with many more.

Peatland ACTION is asking readers to share the films widely to encourage more landowners and managers to restore their peatlands. If you share them on Twitter, please tag them at @PeatlandACTION and @nature_scot
