New Eyes Wanted: Apply Now for Peatland Monitoring Support

July 22, 2025

Eyes on the Bog, the Peatland Programme’s long-term, low-cost monitoring initiative, is opening up Round 2 of its Eyes on the Bog Fund - and we’re looking for new groups to join the growing network of peatland monitors.

This fund is designed to support new Eyes on the Bog users, helping you get started with:

  • essential monitoring equipment,
  • resources to engage your community,
  • and tools to input and share your data through a brand-new open-source platform.

It’s all part of our wider support package running from 2024 to 2026, which includes:

  • training for new volunteers,
  • new fixed-point photography posts and totemic site markers,
  • and an exciting new online map, data platform, and open-source app—developed in partnership with The Wildlife Trusts.

Applications are open to registered organisations who are completely new to using Eyes on the Bog and/or have fewer than 10 Eyes on the Bog monitoring points set up. Whether you're a conservation organisation or local initiative just getting started, this is your chance to take part in a hands-on, science-led movement to understand our peatlands.

📅 How to Apply

Applications are open from International Bog Day (Sunday 27th July) until midday on Monday 13th October.

📄 Download the application guidance at the bottom of this page to learn more about the fund, eligibility, and how to apply.
