Grants for spongy landscapes!

Wales' National Peatland Action Programme has launched a new round of competitive Peatland Restoration Grants (£10K-£250K).

Getting that spongy, carbon-capturing, nature-boosting power back into our peatland it what it’s all about! So, the National Peatland Action Programme (NPAP), managed by Natural Resources Wales (NRW) and funded by Welsh Government, has launched a new round of competitive Peatland Restoration Grants (£10K-£250K). 

The Grant can be used to develop or/and deliver a peatland restoration project in Wales, and is open to private landowners and public/voluntary organisations alike. 

Mannon Lewis, NRW’s Strategic Projects lead for NPAP said: 

Healthy peatlands are national assets when bog species thrive, in particular the peat-forming sphagnum mosses. The mosses can hold 20 times their mass in water so keep landscapes wet and spongy which is why peatlands are an important nature-based solution to tackle both the climate and nature emergencies. So, if you own or manage peatland in Wales, please attend our webinars to find out more!

Applications need to be in by 30/11/2026. For guidance, potential applicants are invited to register for the free webinars in either Welsh or English on 6/10/2026. The webinars will be available online shortly afterwards.
