Delyth Hughes, the National Peatland Action Programme (NPAP) Specialist Advisor for Market Force Development, was to be seen at the Royal Welsh Agricultural Show, as well as the Anglesey and Pembroke shows, providing guidance to interested contractors. 

Not only contractors. At the Pembrokeshire Show, the Cabinet Minister for Rural Resilience and Sustainability, Llyr Gruffydd MS showed an interest in the employment opportunities peatland contracting offers in rural Wales. 

In 2025/26, 40 contractors attended NPAP’s two contractor advisory sessions before the launch of an 8-year peatland restoration framework. Eight awards were made for Groundwork, eight for Vegetation and Scrub Management, and two companies became the first awarded under the Contractor Development lot, which is to support those new to peatland. Training is delivered for contractors in the Contractor Development strand of the framework.
