Discover the Secrets of Carmarthenshire's Peat Bogs

National Botanic Garden of Wales, Llanarthne - 11am - 4pm

A fantastic day of activities is lined up to celebrate all things 'boggy' without having to get your feet wet:

  • Study peat samples taken from a local bog, which holds the secrets to 10,000 years of local history
  • Make a print of pollen grains seen in the peat core
  • Discover how we can all help our peat bogs by using peat-free compost
  • Listen to storytellers bring to life the early people who lived around the bogs
  • Have a go at making a clay pot or a shale pendant using prehistoric technologies
  • Listen to talks about the fascinating history and ecology of bogs.

For further information please contact Isabel Macho, Biodiversity Officer at Carmarthenshire County Council on 01558 825390.
