Book Launch: The Peatlands of Britain and Ireland

Please join us for the launch of Clifton Bain's new book, The Peatlands of Britain and Ireland. Clifton Bain is the IUCN UK Peatland Programme's Programme Advisor. The online event featuring Tony Juniper (Chair of Natural England), Anne McCall (RSPB Scotland), Des Thompson (NatureScot) and broadcaster and writer Vanessa Collingridge alongside Clifton himself, this is set to be a fantastic evening.

Clifton Bain completes his trilogy with this look at the Peatlands of Britain and Ireland. A source of fuel for many generations and drained for agriculture, they are now recognised as a haven for wildlife and plants as well as a storehouse of carbon. Their social history is one of exploitation and the value of mending and restoring is a major theme of the book.

Like its predecessors, The Peatlands of Britain and Ireland is a sumptuous volume richly illustrated with photographs and maps and with drawings by the wildlife artist Darren Rees.

15% from each copy of The Peatlands of Britain and Ireland by Clifton Bain sold through Sandstone Press will be donated to the RSPB, a registered charity in England and Wales, number 207076, and in Scotland, number SC037654.

The event is free to attend. Please register here for your free place.
