‘Moor in a van’ set to tour the Peak District and South Pennines

December 14, 2017

The Bogtastic van – probably the world’s first ‘moor in a van’ – is set to start touring towns and cities in and around the Peak District and South Pennines, to inspire residents and visitors about the iconic moors that surround them.

Bogtastic vanMembers of the public who have never stepped into a real-life moorland environment before, will be transported straight to the habitat with the sights, sounds, smells and textures of the moors, including an audio visual experience and ‘bog wobble’ floor!

The van has been created as part of the Moors for the Future Partnership’s MoorLIFE 2020 project, and it had its first outing on Saturday 16th December as it travelled to the Halifax Fire Station Community Christmas Open Day.

The Moors for the Future Partnership communications team is working on a full calendar of events and places for the van to visit from January next year, including city centres and country shows.

If you have any ideas for events/venues in and surrounding the Peak District National Park and South Pennines that it might be good for the Bogtastic van to go along to, please email communications and engagement officer, Jody.Vallance@peakdistrict.gov.uk.
